April 14, 2024From the publicity: “The important events in our lives leave us with all sorts of memorabilia—programs, menus, cocktail napkins, notecards and, of course, photos—things that we value but that we keep tucked away in drawers and boxes. This workshop will give you a way to bring out these items and make them part of your everyday life by turning them into collages. As elements of an eye-pleasing design, your personal materials will retain the details that make them meaningful for you.”

From Scrap To Art: Recycled Collage Workshop at the Sandy Spring Museum

From the publicity: “Exhibiting artist Sonya Michel will lead participants in creating two-dimensional collages and three-dimensional assemblages from discarded materials while exploring color, form, texture, and themes such as sustainability and recycling. This intergenerational program is designed for elementary-age children to adults (adults should plan on working with their youngsters). Wooden panels and various recycled materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to collect and bring whatever bits of paper, cardboard, plastic and flat metals that catch their eyes from their own collections.”
